Overview:
A collaborative meeting between Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) and Consult & Train Pvt. Ltd. concluded successfully, with both parties reaching a mutual understanding to establish the Transport Road Safety Research, Trainings & Innovation Centre for Transport Safety Research, Training & Solutions (CTSRTS) at DUET — subject to formal approval by the Honorable Vice Chancellor.
The proposed Centre will serve as a dynamic bridge between academia and industry, advancing research, capacity building, and technological innovation in the fields of road safety and transportation management across Pakistan.
Key Outcomes of Road Safety:
1- Formal Collaboration:
Both institutions agreed to form a strategic partnership for the establishment of CTSRTS at DUET under a Public–Private–Academia model.
2. Road Safety Education & Awareness:
The Centre will conduct seminars, workshops, and professional training programs aimed at enhancing awareness and technical capacity among students, faculty members, and industry professionals engaged in the transport and infrastructure sectors.
3. Research & Technological Innovation:
The core mission of CTSRTS will be to develop, test, and promote practical, technology-driven solutions for reducing traffic crashes and fatalities. The Centre will encourage faculty and student participation in applied research addressing Pakistan’s critical road safety and transport challenges.
Next Steps:
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the creation of a sustainable Road Safety Innovation Ecosystem in Pakistan.
Both partners will now move forward to:
- Finalize the operational framework of CTSRTS
- Define the resource allocation and governance structure.
- Identify initial research themes, training modules, and pilot projects
